Shadows, grown tall and wahoo

- The Bradford Pear trees at my mother's residence in Macon, Georgia, casting shadows under an afternoon sun.

- A friend reports on a trip in which she drove by the first home she and her husband ever owned. The blue spruce tree that was a gift from her parents is thriving, now more that 20 feet tall.

- A dinner at a lovely restaurant, The Wahoo Grill, in which the loveliest part is a courtyard full of trees and fountains. And fortunately, still heated. The name of the restaurant evokes excitement rather than the fish it is named after.

I started smiling as soon as I read your post title, Lynn. One of my brother's nicknames is Wahoo and it was something we came up as children so it goes waaaay back. Wait until I tell him it's a fish - lol!

Sorry, but I keep thinking in my mind "The Yahoo Grill" which is totally a different vibe. Okay, I'll hush now :-)

Sounds cool, I didn't know it was a fish!

Love the trees. Everything is still asleep here where I live. Can't wait to see blossoms soon.

Happy Tuesday!

So your brother must be an exuberant man! The dictionary refers to wahoo as a warm water fish that is pretty good to eat (paraphrasing) or used to express exuberance or enthusiasm or to attract attention.

Blue Bunny -

Yes you are second AND third. Where's your Jannie? The squirrel invites you for strumpits? Oh my!

Jewel -

I know - I think of that Yahoo commercial, too. :)

Spring is around the corner!

Ji -

Happy Tuesday to you, too!

Amazing shadows caused by the trees.

I thought Wahoo was just a mis-spelling of Yahoo. :D

The Wahoo Grill! I love it!

Riot Kitty -

And it is very uptown, but with a fun name. :)

It's almost like a vanilla cone seen from afar. I've rarely seen trees blooming so on such short trunks.

Makes for great diversity.

Joe -

Your comment didn't show up until later - Blogger seems to be having issues this week.

Wahoo or Yahoo - sounds like an expression of joy in any event. :)

Anil P -

This period of blooming trees in the southern US is so short, but makes for breathtaking drives. They are everywhere right now.

How funny there's a fish named Wahoo. I learned something new from you today, Lynn. :)

Lovely, lovely Bradford pears. Aren't they wonderful?

Lynn said...

Meredith -

And I never see the Wahoo fish for sale anywhere. I had the wild salmon the other night - one of these days I'll try the Wahoo though.

Those particular Bradford Pear trees are so poignant for me because my dad was looking forward to spring and seeing them bloom. So we celebrate them on his behalf.

I like that expression "gift milestone markers" - and it was truly a blessed day.
