Ghoulish, fun cake and busted

- This home is alarmingly close to a cemetery and always seems up for sale. The current owners obviously have a great sense of humor about the whole thing. When you get close to the ghoulish figures, they cackle and howl.

- A co-worker brought in a cake to work shaped like a witches head complete with hat. Nose holes were fashioned using two inverted chocolate chips. Every time she walked by it, she smiled at it.

- I never get Trick-or-Treaters in my condominiums, but a few years ago I was out to dinner on Halloween night and when I got home a group of little ghouls were walking toward my building with their mother. I hurried in and (shamefully) just didn't answer when they got to my door since I did not have anything close to a treat to give them. Then I heard a little boy say, "I know somebody's home Mom, because their key is in the door."

Maybe they'll have better luck this time. I'm always prepared now, no matter what. :) Hope you have a delightfully spooky weekend, friends!

Oh my gosh, those are great decorations! The spooky lady and her devil baby are neat!

It's weird because i just posted a new story on my Night Blooms blog about a couple who movie into a house next to a cemetery.

I was almost first:)

Love the decorations.

Worry about the woman who smiled at her cake.

We actually have two new families in our area with children and so are hopeful for some trick-or-treaters this year.

Sounds like the house might have found the perfect owners - I love the decorations!

I'm killing myself laughing over the key in the door!

Happy Hallowe'en! Have a fabulously spooky weekend, Lynn!

We get almost no trick-or-treaters either, they're all down at the lake carnival mostly. When I did get a few I have 'em each a couple quarters. When in doubt, do for the cash eh? :)

That front yard looks a bit like ours these days, I'll have to take a picture.

FB is first again -- but I'll vie to be on Monday!

Two ghost on the bench
and four on the lawn
with heads scattered all around

A chocolate chip off the old nose block
And only a head of the witch was there
Yes a grin the co-worker could spear.

It’s hard to rhyme when I’. Laughing so hard

A key the kid found
Knowing someone was around
but no treats, could that hider spare
yet this year she is will prepared.

FB -

That is a really old cemetery and I've always thought it odd that this newish house is so close to it. I wonder if it is haunted and that is why the turnover. :)

And congrats on being first!

GA -

You and FB missed each other by mere minutes.

I think she is proud of her cake.

I hope you get some kids coming by.

Talon -

I like them, too. And they didn't seem to mind me wandering about their property. :)

Oh I was so busted - I should have opened the door and given them cans of soup or something.

lg -

Oh my - sorry!

Jannie -

The race is on! :)

My sister's rural area has "trunk or treat" at the church. Everyone gathers in the church parking lot and has kind of tailgate party - the kids go from car to car trick or treating. I think that's a good idea.

Blue Bunny -

I think you should be a ghost or a cowboy. A ghost would be easy, but you'd have to hide those ears.

No - but I have a festive Halloween shirt. :)

Thank you for my poem! And I'm glad my blog made you laugh hard - I like that. :)

This is me - coming to the door with cinnamon discs from Wal-mart that I bought yesterday for my desk. :)

*shudder* Those ghouls are super-creepy!

I wish you had a photo of the witch cake. It sounds fantastic! Yesterday at work someone handed out Hallowe'en cupcakes. Mine had a spider on top, which turned out to be a plastic ring. I love stuff like that.

Maybe some more treats so you can compensate a little voice who noticed your key in the door :-)

Sounds like a great cake project! BBM used to work cake decs at the market bakery awhile ago.
Poor kids- someday they'll get it! I always buy candy no matter idf anyone knocks- then keep giving it out later on- My Dad used to do that too.

Sparkling Red -

It's good fun, isn't it? I love a cupcake. :)

Anil P -

Yes - there will be some miniature candy bars tonight - just in case.

lg -

My miece had one of those someone gave her. That's a good idea for a treat. :)

Sage -

That's what I liked about Halloween - good family fun.

Riot Kitty -

Apparently it was easy, too. Some kind of molds that makes the shapes and you put it all together. Chocolate frosting, of course.

Snaggle -

A good idea. I am bad about getting into it myself though. Maybe something I wouldn't like wouod be good to have on hand.

Mama Zen -

I know - that would have been a good trick. :)

Joe -

I hope you are having a lovely weekend, too.

ha ha ha! that's hilarious that you tried to evade those kids but left your key in the door. My parents live on 6 acres and every year, they buy full-sized chocolate bars from costco, and every year, the get no one.

My daughter was telling me that one woman on our neighborhood gives out little cans of soda to kids b/c she said she remembered how thirsty she would be as a kid trick or treating. Maybe you could stock your condo with a few little sodas just in case!

Sy -

Hello and welcome to my blog. I will check yours out, too. Yes - I agree with you. :)

Wendy -

I'll bet if the word was out that your parents gave out full sized candy bars, they'd get some kids. I bought Starburst gummi candy and got no one. I will stash my plastic pumpkin until next year and figure the shelf life of that candy will be OK till then.
