Clover, score and sign of spring

- This clover growing next to the back steps of the printing company where I work is beautiful right now.  Green and lush - just in time for St. Patrick's day tomorrow.  The playground of the elementary school I went to as a child was covered in clover.  Some friends and I used to look for four leaf clovers all the time and I actually found one once - and kept it pressed inside my jewelry box for years.

- Someone made this Thin Mints Nutrition Facts panel as a joke.  Check out the circled item.  They ARE addictive!  It's a good thing I can't get my hands on these very easily.  A coworker's daughter sells Girl Scout Cookies and I asked her if she could get me some Thin Mints and she could only get me one box!  I immediately opened the box and savored a few.

- Another sign of spring.  A couple of Carolina Wrens are building a nest in the bluebird house on my back porch.  I am ridiculously pleased.  There's been no nest for a least 10 years.  At first it was because I didn't know I was supposed to take the nest out of the birdhouse when they were done with it.  But after I learned this - I put on rubber gloves and took the nest out.  Later I had to scrape out dirt dauber nests from the inside.  Sigh.  I had given up hope, but I spotted the wrens coming and going in the afternoon.

I hope your weekend is filled with unexpected (or expected) delights.   Have a wonderful one, my friends!

One of the few things in life that haven't changed- the addictiveness of Thin Mints!
I remember how I dreaded going door to door to sell them when I was a kid.

Mmm thin mints. I haven't had them in forever but, uh yeah. Definitely crack.

Hurray about the nest, I had one last year on my front porch and it was wonderfully entertaining!!! The babies made for great photos (and the nest) being very careful~of course. Lynn, you need a large rabbit to eat that clover!! You know, I have tried to find a 4-leaf clover as an adult and never found one. But I seem to remember finding one once, as a child!

I think I knew about the crack in the thin mints. And WHY does a box come with only 2 servings???? I enjoy wrens on the front porch. Just don't let them in the house. I don't know why, but they like to come inside. :)

I too am ridiculously pleased for you and your wrens!! That's awesome.

You'd think they'd make proportionately more of the Thin Mints. OR maybe they do and they just sell out anyway.

never found a 4-leaf clover, but my uncle did -- many.

lol - I always knew there was a reason I couldn't resist buying those Girl Guide cookies! :)

Love the signs of Spring. I just noticed our crocus suddenly burst into bloom this morning. Yay! The first official color in the garden.

Have a beautiful weekend, Lynn.

I'm loving the signs of Spring too, I think I've decided it's my favourite season of the year, just because it feels full of hope somehow. Love the clover photo.

Have a lovely weekend Lynn!

The Elephant's Child -

I had some minor surgery done yesterday and so was able to just sit on the sofa and not doing anything much and spotted the wrens coming and going. I was tickled pink that they chose my porch to build their nest.

Leonora -

We have all those antebellum mansions in my home town and my mom let me go knock on their doors while she watched from the car. It was safe to do that back then - and usually a butler or maid opened the door, but someone there usually ended up buying them. I am a soft touch for the Girl Scouts - especially when they are wielding Thin Mints. :)

Joanne -

So good!

There is no wildlife in the concrete jungle where I work. That's why it is so lovely when something green like that grows.

happygirl -

lol! Truly - just two servings - I know. :)

Yes - I'll be careful.

That clover is so lush! Makes me wish I were a cow so that I could eat it. I bet it's sweet and delicious.

I have never eaten a Thin Mint! I don't know if Canadian Girl Guides sell them.

I love birds! I recently watched a TV show in which a young man went to therapy to overcome his fear of birds. Watching him cringe in the company of a gentle, cooing pigeon was so sad. But there was a happy ending - he overcame his fear completely in the end!

Sparkling Red -

So unusual for the printing company to have such lush clover in a mostly rocky parking lot.

Surely the Girl Guides sell Thin Mints? They are so good.

And I've loved watching the birds. That's a wonderful story.

Riot Kitty-

I'm not spotting them out anywhere- I'm glad u have a source.

Sandie -

I hope u had a happy st. Party's day!

I loved what said about the wrens. I'm glad your house has new tenants:~)

We lost one of our blue bird houses. Fortunately, after the nesting period. We had put up a new one. I was pleased to see our blue bird couple back again. They're now nesting. It's amazing how many kids blue birds have!!

It is a pain to clean the house!!! Do you have to that with the wrens, as well?

Lynn said...

Sara -

I never see actual bluebirds, so I'm glad the wrens are settling in.

The last time I cleared out the nest, I wiped it down with rubber gloves on. It was a little mess inside. :) And then dirt daubers wasps went in and covered the inside with their awful mud nests. There is a trap door on the side that slides down, and after they vacated, I scraped the dirt dauber nests out with a metal spatula and then wiped and wiped with water using my rubber gloves. So I'm glad they are back and that the inside is acceptable to them. :)
