Butterfly, bee and magnolias

- A butterfly bush, and its special visitor.

- And their friend, the bee.  So much activity on one bush!

- A nearby magnolia blossom.  Summer in the south.  Lovely.

Instead of bell, book and candle:)

Love the activity of nature. Envy the magnolia tree. Wish I had one on our property.

I know summer has officially arrived when I see butterflies, bees, and blooming flowers!

Blogger is really bugging me at the moment. Most of your posts are not showing up in my reader. Well not just yours but other posts too. Grrr.

I took some close up shots of some flowers this weekend and it's amazing how busy the insect world is. I didn't see a butterfly though. Beautiful.

Gorgeous pics! Has it cooled off for you?

Granny Annie -

These are photos I took at my mom's assisted living facility last summer and never posted. I was looking for another photo and spotted these and figured this was a good non-wordy post. :)

Joanne -

Absolutely - me, too. :)

Joe -

I don't use reader for that reason - I just go by that blogroll down the side of my blog.

Thank you - I was able to enhance the photo of the butterfly so the colors showed up. Otherwise it just looked brown.

Riot Kitty -

Thank you! It's supposed to be 99 today - which I guess is better than 106. :)

The swallowtail is gorgeous! Beautiful shots, Lynn. When I watch all the activity in the garden, I'm always reminded how interconnected and how dependent each and every little critter is on something else.

How else could you make something so boring seem so interesting? Yeah, that's right, put it on your blog.

Nice photos! I like the texture of magnolia blooms. Magnolias were new to me when we moved south and the blooms appear artificial and waxy, I just love to touch them.

Butterflies are always rewarding to take pictures of.

Nature can be so promiscuous. :-)

Perfectly beautiful! Bring on the fried green tomatoes, super barbecue, peach pie and magnolia wine, if they make magnolia wine!

wonderful shots! I like that blossom sitting so demurely awaiting those little friends.

Talon -

Thank you for letting me know the name of that butterfly - swallowtail. That's lovely.

Jack -

Thank you, I think.

Leonora -

Me, too. I'm glad you liked it.

Filip -

I just lucked into that one. :)

Shionge -

Thank you - I like making you smile. :)

Pearl -

Ha! You're right. :)

Jannie -

It does look demure. And magnolia wine - quite a thought!

Sandie -

Yes - I wasn't out much this past weekend because of the heat, so figured some last summer pics would fill the bill.

Those pictures are beautiful and are representatives of the South. We lost a lot of flowers with TS Debby. It rained so hard, I couldn't believe it, but we had very little lightning...just tons and tons of rain.

I hope all is well with you and wish you a wonderful 4th of July:~)

Fantastic close-ups! My cam never gets the bees, they move so fast they dissappear! There are different types of Swallowtails, I should look-up that butterfly at the site MB recently sent me to in her comments. She loves butterflies. The blossom is lovely, still never seen a magnolia in person. Glad you saved those from visiting at your Mother's facillity. Good memories to keep along with the more personal ones.

Happy Fourth of July to you, Hope the weather gives you a break finally!

Sara -

I can only imagine - my sister told me of all the rain. And my niece posted a picture on facebook of her car stuck in the mud on the plantation where she works.

These pics were taken in Thomasville last summer - I had forgotten I had them.

Mama Zen -

I know - I want to float it in water. :)

Betty -

Thank you - they turned out kind of nice with some editing. The bee is a tad blurry, but you can see that it's a bee.

Big hugs to you!

Snaggle -

I would love to know what kind of swallowtail that is.

Yes - we had rain last night - a big one with lots of booming. I hope that makes for a cooler day for the race people.

Happy 4th!

I planted a packet of seeds labelled "butterfly weed" in my little front garden, but as yet I don't see any sprouts. Oh well. There are always a few butterflies around anyway.
