Mr. Bluebird, eastern variety and beckoning

- Sometimes in my harrowing commute to northwest Atlanta in the morning (I arrive there around 7:30am), I am not in the happiest of moods because of traffic.  But look who was there to greet me when I pulled up yesterday!  This bluebird, sitting on the back of Mike's car, surveying the world.  I've never seen a bluebird around there - maybe it's the lure of the solar tree (that one coworker thinks looks as if it is in communication with extraterrestrials.)

- A look at Wikipedia tells me that this bluebird is of the eastern variety.  I hope he sticks around for the rest of spring.  There is a bluebird house on my back porch at home, with wrens or chickadees nesting it sometimes.  I took the old nest out of it last weekend, because I've seen some scouting activity already.  (I think it would make sense for them to reuse the nest already in there, but they won't.)

- A rainy morning commute this morning, but it's OK since it is Friday and the weekend beckons.

Hope yours is wonderful!

Lovely bluebird. Their subtle color always catches my eye. Those are spring skies you have there. Hope your weekend is a blessing and some FUN, Lynn! We are supposed to have ice and snow here Sat. PM :-(((((

Granny Annie -

I don't always see it, but like the thought of that. Thank you for saying. And I sang that song in my head all day yesterday.

Yes - we are going through some cold days, but nothing like the snow and ice you have around Grandfather mountain, I'm sure. Cheers - spring is on the way for you, too. Thank you for the weekend blessing!

Atlanta traffic not putting me in the happiest mood is being kind. Sometimes I just want to shout "what are you thinking?" at people. It would be so much better if they would just put down their cell phone.

I can't believe I'm going to type this --- but, after yesterday's flurries, we actually have RAIN. Yes, RAIN! It won't last (supposed to get cold again), but it actually feels downright spring-y. It's about 44 right now. Yay!

Oh, a Bluebird of Happiness. What a neat capture, Lynn. I wish we had those birds here. They're so lovely.

Lisa -

I read the other day that Atlanta is in the top 10 worst commutes in the country (ranking at #7). For me, it's the sheer volume of cars trying to get to the same area at the same time. And in the 7am hour, too. It's amazing that it takes me close to an hour (or more sometimes) to go 20 miles.

It's raining here, too - I'm glad it's not the snowy icy variety for you this time.

Yes - they are lovely birds.

MZ -

So pretty - I agree.

What a wonderful start to the day - and the perfect way of ensuring that you were smiling as you headed into work.
Have a great weekend.

I hope he brought you lots of happiness to last forever, Lynn...and that he sticks around...perhaps leave a seed or bread crumb trail back to your house. :)

A very nice way to start the day!

The first bluebird of Spring! It is a happy time just like when I see the first robin of Spring.

That's a beautiful bird. What a great start to your day! You don't see Bluebird's here in The UK I don't think.

Lynn:

Little bitty bluebird
I saw you on my morning run
You’re not from around here
From where do you come

What are you doing here
Was it a long way to go
Will you be around here long
This I want to know

Bluebird:

I come from the east coast
Flew down south you see
To catch a bit of sunlight
And make a home for me

If you go about your way
For I know Friday calls
You’ll see me around again
Till sometime late in fall

What a beautiful bluebird! I've never noticed one here, although Wikipedia tells me that they do frequent the Toronto area. I'll have to keep a sharp lookout.

I think so, too.

Yes - I'm an early bird, like that blue one. :) And thanks.

I want to hear it sing - it sat there for a moment and then flew off to a neighboring fence. I haven't seen it again.

Joe -

A good way to start the day indeed.

I LOVE the poems in two perspectives. :) I'm so happy to have you back with your poems. And I hope I see the bluebird until the fall.

Sparkling Red -

Yes - keep an eye out for this treasure.

Loved the picture about the bluebird. It took a second to find him or her. We have some nesting in a box at our house. Originally, the nest was a chickadee nest, but evidently this wasn't the chosen nest:~) The bluebirds took out parts of the chickadee nest and added their touches of pine straw. We now have eggs! They work FAST:~)
